October is World blindness month: protect and restore your vision at kings eye center

Up to 75% of blindness can be prevented with early detection and modern treatment.  This World Blindness Month, Kings Eye Center encourages patients across the San Joaquin Valley to take proactive steps toward protecting their sight.

Our team of ophthalmologists provides advanced medical and surgical care for conditions that can lead to vision loss — including glaucoma, cataracts, and eyelid disorders that affect both vision and comfort.

Glaucoma: Early Detection Prevents Irreversible Blindness
Glaucoma is often called the “silent thief of sight” because it causes gradual optic nerve damage without noticeable symptoms. Once vision is lost, it cannot be restored — making early detection essential.

At Kings Eye Center, we use
advanced imaging and visual field testing to catch glaucoma before damage occurs.

Why early glaucoma evaluations matter:
  • Glaucoma damage occurs silently and progressively.
  • Early detection allows us to control eye pressure and prevent vision loss.
  • Modern treatments include medicated drops, laser therapy, and MIGS procedures, which delivers long-term medication from within the eye to maintain consistent pressure control.

Cataracts: Clarity Restored Through Advanced Surgery
Cataracts are a leading cause of preventable blindness—but they can be corrected safely and effectively with modern surgery. When your vision becomes cloudy, glare increases, or night driving becomes difficult, it may be time for an evaluation.

At Kings Eye Center, our experienced surgeons perform
advanced cataract surgery using the latest technology to restore clear, vibrant vision.

Our cataract treatment options include:
  • Laser-assisted cataract surgery for precision and safety
  • Premium intraocular lenses (IOLs) to reduce or eliminate glasses after surgery
  • Customized surgical plans tailored to your lifestyle and visual goals

Eyelid Surgery: Enhancing Vision and Comfort

Eyelid conditions, such as droopy lids (ptosis) or excess skin (dermatochalasis), can do more than affect appearance—they can interfere with your field of vision and cause eye strain or irritation.

At Kings Eye Center, our oculoplastic specialists perform
functional and cosmetic eyelid surgeries to restore both comfort and confidence, including:
  • Blepharoplasty to remove excess skin and improve vision obstruction
  • Ptosis repair to lift drooping eyelids
  • Eyelid lesion removal for health and cosmetic purposes

These procedures not only rejuvenate appearance but also enhance vision and quality of life.
